As a Canadian I sometimes feel like I’m expteced to defend Sid at all costs but Holy cow, call the Wahmbulance. The Steckel hit was totally incidental. When I heard Sid complaining about it later I yelled at him to shut it. He didn’t hear me, since I’m in Calgary and he was in Pennsylvania at the time, but I stand by my advice to him. I grew up in small-town Saskatchewan watching some (at times) VERY dirty small-town hockey so I generally can call a dirty hit when I see one. A dirty hit is leaving your feet to fly into the opponent and hit him from behind into the boards. Or crosschecking into the open bench door. Or chasing a player down to retaliate for a hit from 6 games ago.No question he’s a skilled and amazing player. But he really really really needs to just suck it up and take the hits.
